Making the most out of the best tools

By February 11, 2014No Comments

Seth Godin is almost always good for some daily thoughtful wisdom. If you’re not already subscribing to his daily newsletter, I’d highly recommend it.

Today, Seth wrote about a very relevant topic for Kahuna and Xero users. Here is a link to view the article.

The point he was making is that sometimes great tools can make things so easy that the scope of your work can shift instantly.

This is not an excuse to be lethargic, but a challenge to rise to make the most of the tool you have.

This is what he says:

Even people who sell real estate have discovered that much of what they did all day is now being done, sorted and presented, for free, in real time, online.

That doesn’t mean that the game is over. What it does mean is that we have to figure out how to obsess over things that are truly difficult. Access to tools alone is not sufficient.

At Kahuna we provide business owners with a great tool in Xero. Xero gives businesses the opportunity to find efficiencies that were not even possible a few years ago. But what are you willing to do with it?

Kahuna’s goal is to help businesses get the most from this great tool. To have it and use it and see results from it. That’s why we place such an emphasis on what our team can do, because all the tools in the world won’t mean anything if you don’t use them well enough to make improvements.

Truthfully, learning to maximize tools should elevate you to the next level. Rather than spend time on things that aren’t truly important, the right technology can make sure those things are done with little effort.

This means you can focus on what really matters for you.

Like Seth says, we can “obsess over things that are truly difficult.”
